Abdulsalam Mohammed Daaru began his professional journey in nursing — a field he approached not merely as a career but as a calling. Joining the team at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, Ghana's premier and largest healthcare institution, he quickly distinguished himself as a meticulous and compassionate professional.

He made history as the First Administrative Secretary of the Nursing Audit Unit at Korle-Bu — a pioneering role that placed him at the intersection of healthcare quality, clinical governance and hospital administration. His work there set standards that continue to influence nursing practice across Ghana.

Alongside his clinical career, Daaru pursued continuous professional development, earning certifications in healthcare leadership and public health management.

Never content to observe problems without building solutions, Daaru turned to entrepreneurship. He co-founded Oxygen Health-Tech, a health-technology startup operating an online portal that publishes healthcare information, profiles healthcare professionals, and improves health access in underserved Ghanaian communities.

He also co-founded the Zongo Business Incubator (ZOBI), which supports startups and small businesses across Zongo communities. ZOBI's 2023 Campus-Based Business Summit — conducted in partnership with NEIP, YALI and the Zongo & Inner-Cities Secretariat — equipped 30 students with transformative entrepreneurial skills.

Daaru's consulting arm, Daaru Management Consult, provides strategic advisory services to organisations navigating healthcare, community development and entrepreneurship challenges.

Few leaders in Ghana's civil society move as fluently between mosque and marketplace, between community mediation and national policy. As Head and Director of the PPF Research & Peace Institute, Daaru has engaged directly with national Muslim leadership — including the National Hilal Committee — to promote interfaith harmony and community stability.

His peacebuilding philosophy is grounded in research: understanding conflict's root causes before proposing solutions. Through PPF, he has developed community arbitration frameworks and youth peace programmes that are now active models across Greater Accra.

Daaru is a published writer and public commentator whose voice reaches audiences across multiple platforms — from Ghanaian Times and allAfrica to ModernGhana and the IMAGH network. He writes on healthcare policy, Zongo community heritage, Islamic history in Ghana, and civic responsibility.
